Kentucky Colt

Whenever I watch one of the big triple crown horse races (Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes), I think more about the story of the horses themselves rather than the actual race at hand. For this reason I wanted to compose a simple piece of music to depict a young colt in training. He would begin work early each morning with his trainer; growing, learning, struggling and thriving. Eventually he would be paired up with his perfect jockey and they would start to prepare for running in the glorious race. The fruit of their labor would joyously culminate in three hard-fought and exhilarating victories. Years later, the once young colt, now Triple Crown champion, would be brought back to his Kentucky farm to live out the remainder of his life and bask in the sweet memories of his youth.
